The weekend started out with a DP Safety School on Friday for some needed track time.
To update all you folks on "Infineon Raceway" it IS "Sears Point". 30 million dollars would make you change YOUR name wouldn't it?
Friday

My cousin had never been to a track day before. He has been riding Baggers (A Harley Term) all this life and just purchased a Buell. After hanging out with Kathy and I for a while we talked him into a trackday. BOY did he have fun!
So the weekend started out with a big happy bang!
Saturday
On to the racing weekend, my goal this year is to finish in the top 15 after finidhing 18th overall last year. The problem is there are fewer riders to get points from if you beat them and the ones that are repeating this year are damn tuff!! So I will really have to put my head down and become a better lighter rider to make my goal!
My race engine went south after the last race of 2002, with no money to have it rebuilt I have converted my commute Ninjette into the new racer with a totally stock motor. but added all the other stuff from the race bike that I could.
Saturdays practice was ok, with the promised rain staying away. My lap times sucked and we only had a half a day due to the new riders school. With the track reconfigured it was hard to tell how I was doing except for watch riders I used to keep up with ride away from me.
Sunday
Then things got a little hairy, and Sunday it just got worse. Athough I was riding well and happy with my performance. During practice on the white flag lap I ran over an underground spring seeping up water and fell at about 75 mph at the apex of turn eight. The video here does not do it justice! It was SPECTACULAR! The bike and I slide forever on the wet grass!! Luckily the bike did not flip and stayed on the low side sliding all
the way to the enterance to 8A on the west side of the track.! I slid on my back totally flipping once, on the east side of the track just has far, never touching an inmovable object!!.
I destoryed a pencil cam in the process of making this video so enjoy.

(NOTE: a few years ago I would have got hurt and the bike would have been destroyed at this spot. They have cut away a hill on the west side and increased run off on the east side. THANK YOU INFINEON!)
Thanks to a great bunch of friends we got the bike back on the track in time for me to complete my two races although not running at 100% I did get the job done :-)
